Exaltation of the Holy Cross

Sunday, September 14, 2008, was the Feast of the Exaltation of the Holy Cross. It was also the first anniversary of the implementation of Pope Benedict XVI’s apostolic letter issued motu proprio, Summorum Pontificum.

In addition to the four regular Sunday Masses of the usus antiquior in the Archdiocese of Newark, there was a Solemn High Mass at Our Lady of Mount Carmel in Bayonne. The celebrant was Fr. Barone, the deacon was Fr. Hellmann, and the subdeacon was Fr. Rush. The pastor of Our Lady of Mount Carmel, Monsignor Marczewski, assisted in choir and spoke briefly before the sermon.

The photographs below were taken by Aristotle Esguerra who also directed the schola cantorum. On his blog you can read more details about the music that accompanied the Mass and you can see more images from the Mass on his Facebook album.
